At Willow Lake Métis Nation (WLMN), you have the opportunity to work alongside a passionate and dedicated team in creating a sustainable future for the Nation and its citizens.

A strategic goal of the WLMN is to develop strong skills and increase employment outcomes within the Nation. The WLMN has received a grant to participate in The Indigenous & Rural Skills and Employment Training Program (IRSETP) which is designed to help Indigenous people improve their skills and find employment.

We are looking for an Employment and Training Coordinator (12-month contract position – with possibility for extension) that is passionate about assisting clients in gaining skills and finding jobs that will support their long-term career success.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, External Relations and Community Engagement, the Employment and Training Coordinator will provide Career and Employment Information Services, including relevant labour market, career planning, work search information, job placement and tools and capacity building to members of the WLMN as well as non-indigenous rural clients.

Duties Include

· Interviewing potential clients for program fit

· Preparing for and attending local career fairs

· Creating a database for potential clients and employers

· Arranging courses with partners for clients

· Connecting clients to industry partners

· Liaising with community agencies

· Supporting training and employment where possible

· Leveraging programming with other agencies

· Acting as the main contact as liaison for Employers and industry surrounding the community

· Addressing labour market needs and making connections with employers/industry in and surrounding the community; and

· Keeping up to date of the most current business, industry and employer workforce development.

· Ensuring ongoing Case Management

· Monitoring client progress and follow

· Completing all required reporting/documentation

· Ensuring completion of timelines and outcomes


Postsecondary certificate or diploma in a related discipline is considered an asset
Related experience as a coordinator of programs is preferred
Prior involvement in Indigenous communities is essential
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Strong organizational skills, high level of detail orientation, and ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting deadlines.
A good understanding of Indigenous culture, history, customs, and beliefs is essential.
Ability to research, analyze and present information specific to the coordination of employment and career services.
Results oriented and ability to meet and drive deadlines.
Ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
Exceptional team player with strong customer service orientation.
Effective verbal and written communication skills
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (including excel)

Certificate/Training Requirements

Valid driver’s license required.
